For the first time in Amsterdam. Bellydancing in 2011 is off to a tremendous start with two unique workshops and a live performance of Hossam and Serena Ramzy in Amsterdam, The Netherlands! During these workshops you’ll dive into the essence of Egyptian dance and interpretation of Egyptian music in a fun, practical and very effective style.

This style of workshop stands alone, and the Ramzy’s employ a variety of teaching methods during a single workshop, including lectures, discussions and demonstrations of movement and rhythm, so that learning is achieved at a deeper level than mere repetition of a dance routine.

Whilst there is a substantial and significant element of dance techniques covered during the workshop, learning “new moves” is not the key focus. A choreography may be used but not with the aim of basic repetition of steps, but as a tool to understand how the music can be interpreted individually.

Workshops are fast-paced and challenging but even complete beginners surprise themselves with what they find themselves capable of achieving.

Friday night 21 October at 7:30 PM Hossam and Serena, accompanied by internationally renowned Persian dancer Helia, talent of tombak Pasha Karami and other guest dancers, will show you an incredible live performance you should not miss! Hossam will let you see and feel the essence of Egyptian dancing Music in a live performance. Serena and the guest performers feature in spectacular dancing performances that will thrill everyone with an interest in Oriental dancing.

Saturday 22 October 2011 features the first workshop, the "Classical Egyptian Dance Workshop". In this workshop Hossam and Serena will focus on teaching traditional dance techniques to a Baladi composition that revives the old days in which the great names of Egyptian dance enjoyed being the queens of the dance in the Egyptian club scene.

On Sunday 23 October 2011 at 11:00 AM Hossam and Serena will push you to the limit in a workshop on the music of Sabla Tolo, the best-selling album of Hossam Ramzy. In this workshop you will learn to understand the challenging rhythms of Hossam and express them with Serena’s enthusiastic and dynamic moves.
